9/11 Memorial Statue Fundraising Campaign
The Clear Lake Fire Association is proud to announce the launch of a fundraising campaign for a new bronze statue honoring both the firefighters who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, and the firefighters who have served Clear Lake. This powerful addition will become a permanent feature of the 9/11 Memorial at the Clear Lake Fire Station.
The statue will depict a firefighter seated on a bench, gazing at a piece of steel recovered from the North Tower of the World Trade Center — a poignant symbol of sacrifice, reflection, and resilience. Created by the nationally renowned Brodin Studios, the sculpture will take over a year to complete, with an unveiling ceremony planned for Friday, September 11, 2026, marking the 25th anniversary of 9/11. This milestone event will serve as a moment of remembrance and gratitude, honoring the courage and service of all firefighters.
The Clear Lake Volunteer Fire Department is honored to announce a generous $30,000 challenge gift from an anonymous donor. The first $10,000 is an outright gift from the anonymous donor; The donor will donate an additional $20,000 as a matching grant — meaning if the community raises $30,000, the donor will match it dollar-for-dollar. Members of the Fire Department have already contributed $5,000 toward this inspiring effort. The total cost of the project is estimated at just over $65,000.
“This is an incredible opportunity,” said Fire Chief Doug Meyers. “We’re deeply grateful for this generous gift and the chance to create a lasting tribute. Now, we need our community’s support to make it a reality. Every contribution, big or small, will bring us closer to our goal.”
Donations can be made payable to the Clear Lake Fire Association and mailed to PO Box 332, Clear Lake, IA 50428. Contributions can also be submitted online via Venmo. If you would like to know more about the project or have a group that would like us to come visit, please reach out by calling the fire station 641-357-2613.
Join us in honoring the legacy of the fallen, supporting the bravery of today’s firefighters, and building a memorial that will stand for generations.
