The Clear Lake Fire Department was dispatched to a reported home fire Monday, March 21, 2016 at approximately 0908 hrs. The Clear Lake Police Department and Clear Lake Fire Department responded to 232 Glen Cove Drive in Clear Lake. Upon arrival heavy smoke was showing from the basement and garage area on the single story home. The occupants of the home had safely evacuated prior to the fire department’s arrival. Firefighters entered the home, quickly contained the fire to a basement bedroom of the home. Ventilation of the smoke and heat was obtained with positive pressure fans. Major damage was contained to the basement bedroom with water and smoke damage thru out the basement level of the house. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Damage is estimated to be over $50,000. The property is owned and occupied by Lon Fjetland and his family. The owner did have insurance for the property. The Clear Lake Fire Department responded with 4 companies with 15 firefighters and was assisted by the Ventura Fire Department with 2 companies and 5 firefighters. Also assisting was the Clear Lake Public Works, Clear Lake Police Department, and Alliant Energy. There were no injuries, but the family did lose a pet bird.
