CLFD Responds to Garage Fire
Tuesday, October 20th, 2015
October 20th around 9:20 am the Clear Lake Fire Department responded to report of smoke in an Unattached Garage in the 1800 block of North Shore Drive. Upon Arrival we were able to confirmed smoke in the garage and witnessed charring of the exterior siding in one spot. We were able to pinpoint the location of the fire in the walls using our thermal imaging camera, once located we opened the wall and extinguished the fire very quickly. We responded with 7 Firefighters in 2 companies, and 1 Ems company, we were assisted at the scene by the Clear Lake Police Department.

With winter in full swing snow is piling up around town and fire hydrants are becoming covered with snow. If you have a fire hydrant in your yard or neighborhood we would ask that you ADOPT THE HYDRANT and keep the snow clear about 2 feet around the hydrant.

On Saturday the CLFD went down to City Beach aerator to practice our Ice Rescue skills. They were able to practice different skills and techniques on how to get a victim out of the water as quickly and safely as possible.

Matt and Nancy Breen, representatives of Interstate Batteries made a generous donation to the Clear Lake Fire Department. Interstate Batteries donated 500 9 volt batteries, NFPA Fire Prevention Bags and stickers to be given out to students at Clear Creek Elementary in grades 1st through 5th.
