My family and I came to Clear Lake from Onalaska, WI. There I was a member of the Onalaska Fire Department for 9 years, and spent 3 of those years full time with the Arcadia Ambulance Service. I began my fire service in 2003 as a volunteer and discovered I had a passion for emergency response. I was lucky enough to work my way into a full time fire position, as well as working as a TA with the fire and EMT program at Western Wisconsin Technical College.
Originally from Decorah, my wife and I met at UNI while I was working on a degree in Music Education. After UNI I went on to earn a Master in Music and Education from Western Michigan University. Music took me to Wisconsin, but while there the volunteer fire opportunity lead me to make a career change. In 2010 my wife was offered a position back here in Iowa and we jumped at the chance to move back home. She grew up on a farm just outside of Latimer.
Currently, I'm putting both my music degree and my fire experience to good work. I now work for Rieman Music as an Educational Consultant, where I work with local school music programs. In my spare time I am an avid bass fisherman, pheasant hunter, mountain biker, runner, or I might simply be hanging out with my friends and family.
